FatBoy Summer Update

There have been some requests for an update in my diet status so to expedite the matter I decided to post it here on the blog for all to see.  I know there have been a few of you out there that have contacted me and expressed thanks for the motivation to attempt this oftentimes very difficult diet.  More often than not the initial response to the question “how did you lose the weight?” is tough for people to grasp.  They always repeat “500 calories?” so often it’s funny…
I’ll start out with a statement concerning those that I know personally that have started this diet.  If you follow the diet like I have outlined in my blog, which is directly from the original doctor you will lose an incredible amount of weight in a life-altering short amount of time.  Following this diet has proved to be a relatively easy task.   Around 2/3 of the people either I or Renee know and interact with were able to complete the process all the way to the end.  They achieved exactly what I described.   Weight loss was universally characterized as somewhere between really cool and miraculous.
My extremely supportive and wonderful wife has never looked better!  She stuck to it as I did and managed to keep it all off as well.  As for myself, today I am at 171 lbs. and I’ve never felt better in my life.  I began serious weight training after my second cycle.  My ultimate goal is in sight.  September 1st is only 5 weeks away!  I am attaching a couple of recent pics and thank you so much for all those supportive emails!

FatBoy Last Day

Ok... I have to admit it.  I haven't been truthful with you.  Over he last 4 plus months I have been honest with you about my diet... Sorry.
The reality is that over the last few months I made it look like the blogs were current in that I was writing in the "today".  I wasn't.  I was about 6 weeks behind.  Although we started after Thanksgiving, the implication was that we started in January.  I just didn't know if there was going to be any real success.  I didn't want to fail and certainly not on a catastrophic scale a public blog would create!
Luckily, we didn't fail.
As my wife and I can attest, we are the fairy tale.  That special combination of information, support, commitment, and diet brought about new people physically.  I lost in excess of 43 lbs and my wife 40 lbs during the last 4 months.  We went through 2 rounds of the diet.  Our weight loss have motivated others as well.  At current count 21 of our family,  friends and co-workers have begun the diet and this does not include their spouses.  These are only the ones I know about. I don't know if anyone reading this blog has been motivated to try this, but I sure hope there are!  This is the cure.  I promise if you make the commitment to follow this program, you will succeed where before you couldn't.
I am including my final pictures.  I am also posting reminder photos of where I started.  Enjoy and as always, if you have any questions, you know how to do it...

Yankee Recipe for Success

So after 1 game the New York Yankees give the rest of baseball a glimpse of what's in store for them.  At least that's what the Yanks hope!  With CC Sabathia going 6 strong innings and only giving up 2 earned runs he was the dominant pitcher that Yankee fans knew he was.  The worry on many observers’ minds is and has been for many years "How do we get to Mariano"?  Well it looks like if they have their say the recipe goes something like this: 7th inning goes to former phenom Joba Chamberlain and the 8th inning will go to last season's save leader with Tampa Bay Rafael Soriano.  Should the Pinstripes get to the 7th inning with the lead it might be over for the rest of the American League if they can replicate yesterday's effort with consistency.   Manager Joe Girardi's job may become easier should that happen, and so will the jobs of the entire starting pitching staff.  If they can get the idea in their heads that 6 innings is all they need to go, it should ease their burden while facing the best hitters in the best division in baseball.  All the talk this season has been that the Boston Red Sox are the cream of the crop, and I do agree their starting pitching is formidable, but for ESPN's analysts, all 45 of them to pick them to win the AL East is a bit ridiculous.  Don't count the Bombers out this season, regardless what the "experts" say! If that impressive bullpen can do the rest of the year what they did yesterday, they may make that division title race a lot more interesting.

FatBoy Day 48

I wake up at 191.  It’s now a full 2 weeks since the end of the drops and I feel some late night munchies feelings coming on.  I’m not going to lie, so every once in a while, late by the moonlight, I sneak in a treat like a cheesedoodle or eight just to feel alive!  The diet says I shouldn’t slip more than 2lbs under right?  Renee has also lost 25 lbs!  She looks and feels fantastic. Guess who is REAL happy?   This thing is just unreal…

FatBoy Day 45-47

192lbs.  I have been losing weight in marginal increments.  In the 13 days since discontinuing the HCG losing 3lbs seems attributable to the quality food and 1500 calories or less most days.  The feelings of self-confidence are formidable.  People that haven’t been around for a few weeks are shocked to see the results.  My buddy is a personal trainer and he told me that he has 6 clients on it and his own mother has already lost 4lbs!  This diet is such that I feel I can maintain it even after the diet is complete.  I don’t see myself going back to the old way of eating.  It’s not going to be a carb party every day and there is going to be a good side of veggies every meal.  I intend this to be a lifestyle change for the better and that means permanent.  Not like Brett Favre retires permanent, but like Mel Gibson anti-Semite permanent.  I had my first cheeseburger today in 6 weeks and even that I modified.  Most of the bread was scraped off the bun and by Zeus, it was the most delicious thing since Cameron Diaz in “The Mask”.  With that I barely reached 1200 calories for the day with a smile.

FatBoy Day 44

This is my first day on shift at the station in a couple weeks and let me tell you the atmosphere has certainly changed!  I’m getting all kinds of interest in the diet and all the nuances surrounding it.  I’m even getting it from those that were initially critical, proving that the proof is in the pudding and that it doesn’t matter what you say, if you can’t prove it with results then where’s the validity?  The consumption of all 1500 calories is a challenge as the appetite is not there, strange as that may seem from someone who loves to eat.  I start the day at 193 and I finish eating around 1000 calories of good food.
The next 2 days bring upon action by 3 of my brothers!  They decide to get the HCG and begin the diet immediately, meaning just before next shift.  I supply them with all the pertinent info and fueled by the thought of having similar success, sent them on their way.  I believe if these guys put their mind to it, and can keep their fingers out of the cookie jar, they can equal or even surpass my numbers.  They will have the advantage of having a couple people on shift empathetic and supportive of the diet.  Where I think they will be at a disadvantage is their spouses are not participating with them.  The fact that there’s someone close to you in battle everyday double’s your confidence and assists you in weak moments.  I wish them remarkable success. I've included current pictures of them with the intention of both documentation and motivation.  Good Luck men!!!

FatBoy Day 41

It has been awhile since my last entry and although I anticipated a weight gain over the course of my vacation, it didn’t happen.  I lost almost 2lbs and 193 is my current weight.  Our diet was not the best at all times (can’t say no to NYC Pizza and Bagels, too) but the amount wasn’t bad and it wasn’t often.  I’m not counting the beers down-downed in the Financial District… Also you forget that one of the best ways to get around the city is public transportation and your own 2 feet.  We walked everywhere and for long durations including Battery Park to Chinatown and Columbus Circle to Times Square.  We loved it and you can see why most New Yorkers don’t own a vehicle.  We ran numerous occasions to ferry’s and trains with the fear it was about to leave our asses so we even had some perspiration at times.
We’re now back home and we are immediately going into the final phase of the diet.  We will be relegated to no more than 1500 calories and we may not eat starches or sugars.  I truly am eager to start this phase as I feel as though the last week, although a friggin blast, was counter-productive to my diet and I may have lost more weight had I made some better food choices.  With that said, I’m not gonna give myself a baseball bat cup-check over it.  I’m still under for the week and that is ultimately what I wanted when I returned.  I get in around 1100 calories on the day and I feel like I’m stuffed!  Here is my latest pic!
